In 1998, Dubbo and District Family History Society was given a collection of 14,627 photographs, taken between the 1930s and 1970s by Arthur J. Vincent at his studio on Talbragar Street, Dubbo.
This important collection–unique to Dubbo– includes images of weddings, debutantes, portraits, families, children and babies, military personnel, officials and couples.
After many years of hard work by volunteers, compiling and digitizing of the collection was finally completed in 2019.
You can now check through the Index of photographs and place an order using our online Order Form.

HOW TO ORDER:
This collection of over 14,000 negatives has finally been scanned and indexed. Although the negatives span a long period of time, there are gaps in the time span due to flood, damage in storage, and general degradation of the negatives. Negatives seem to commence in the 1940s and it would seem that earlier works may have been destroyed when the 1955 flood went through the lower floor of the premises in Talbragar Street.
An index to all photographs scanned is free to peruse. If you find a name in the index, you can then arrange to view the related image in the photographic collection before purchasing. To do this, you can visit or phone us on 02 6881 8635, when an operator is available to use the system.
An operator is usually available on the first, third and fifth Tuesday of each month between 1pm and 4pm, as well as the second and fifth Thursday of each month between 1pm and 4pm. Someone is also available on the fourth Saturday of each month from 10am to 1pm.
All orders, whether in person or sight-unseen, must be accompanied by a completed online Order Form and submitted with the appropriate payment ($15 for each copy, which includes the administration fee). Please ensure you complete all contact details on the order form.
The photos can be emailed to you, which is the easiest and best way to receive the photos. Note: Your email transfer must be downloaded within seven (7), after which it expires. You can then save them, print them, crop or improve as you see fit. They can also be saved onto a USB thumb drive. Cost of the USB drive is $10 plus postage of $5. You can provide your own USB stick as long as it is brand new and still sealed. We cannot accept unsealed USB sticks to avoid any threat of a virus. If you prefer to take a photograph of the photo, this is fine, however the $15 administration fee for each copy still applies. Don’t forget your email transfer must be downloaded within seven (7), after which it expires.
